I am here, the man who came last night and you would not let write.
I am John P. Selman.
I was a friend of yours when on earth and I merely want to tell you tonight that I am in a better condition than when I last wrote you. Your wife said that I might write and your Indian guide told me to try.
I have commenced to see the light and the truth of God’s love thanks to your wife’s help and that of other spirits who have a knowledge of this love. How thankful I am that you brought me in contact with these spirits for I must tell you that I was an infidel even after I became a spirit and thought that I was sufficient for my own salvation; but now I know that to depend upon myself for salvation is a thing utterly insufficient and that only the influence of this higher power can take me out of my darkness and suffering. I am praying and trying to believe and am in a condition of light which I did not expect when I first came to you.
I have not met her and I doubt that I shall for Helen tells me that she is not for me and that I must not think of her. That there is another who will make me happy and when the time comes she will bring us together.
Why what a surprise all this has been to me for as you know when on earth such experiences never entered my mind. But thank God, I now have hope and promise of happiness and freedom from suffering.
I will not write more tonight. Good night.
Your old friend.
John P. Selman
